Checking a vol. brought to my mid, the following forgotten defs.

CHAMPION - the longest ancestor (usually). A super-ancestor to the Honeyfarm was far from elegant at the end, that the title was awarded to a shorter, compact super-ancestor.

NOT IMPROVABLE - efforts were made to push a pattern back 1 or more gen, without increasing its size or dereasing its size-eff. ratio. Many patterns show stubborn resistance to improvement, but some exce;lent improvements were found by sheer chance.

IMPROVED (M - DD - YY) .Date of improvement. Such is to be CONFIRMed.,bef. adding.

CONFIRMED (M - DD - YY). Date of running an improvement in program, to avoid premature reaction destroying pattern. Work had been done by hand, but needed to be proven by computer. A ship ancestor "improvement" found to react pre-maturely...

RESTORED (M-DD-YY) .In mid 2006, a cellar flood ruined most of the 53 vilumes of Life patterns. Some volumes were repaired and much work was restored. New discoveries , from the 'net were added, but many inferior patterns never restored. Lost patterns were redone. (orig. dates of work lost), with dates of restoration . Work now resides in 35 volumes.

SEED - an object at start to suppress unwanted side matter or trigger activity. May be unelegant.

Super-ancestors incl. such of Block, Beehive, pulsar, P96 Switch Engine (!!!), seeding blinker also app., causing pattern to run forever.
